The Marine Institute is set to bring together industry partners, students and alumni at its eighth annual Career Fair on Feb. 10 and 11. Companies from across the country will gather at MI to meet current Marine Institute students and past MI graduates. Organizations representing the marine transportation, ocean technology, aquaculture and food industries will be on hand throughout the two-day event.

The Marine Institute will hold its annual International Development Week celebrations Feb. 7-13. The event will showcase Canada's efforts to improve the quality of life in developing countries while providing background on the many international aid projects that have been undertaken by the Marine Institute.

The Marine Institute is taking steps to reduce the impact of bottom trawls on the seabed. Along with industry partners Vónin Canada Ltd. and Vónin Ltd., MI is leading a project that will develop and commercialize fishing systems capable of catching commercial quantities of finfish and shellfish, but with reduced seabed contact compared to traditional systems.
