Aquatic Health Services (AHS) offers a complete range of fish/shellfish health services with state-of-the-art facilities for biotechnology research and product development. The AHS is a newly established unit of the Marine Institute's Centre for Aquaculture and Seafood Development (C-ASD). The Marine Institute is Canada's most comprehensive education, training, applied research and technology transfer resource for the ocean industries. The AHS consolidates these resources to offer a core expertise in product testing, fish/shellfish health assessment and innovative species research and development for the promotion of sustainable aquaculture and fisheries. In addition, it will serve as a reference center to the aquaculture and fishing industries, academia, federal and provincial regulatory agencies and other aquatic health centres in the Atlantic Provinces. C-ASD's
and AHS's national and international research collaborations have provided
industry, government and academia with access to ultra modern aquaculture
research facilities, in-house expertise and the attention to quality assurance
that comes with the Institute's ISO-9001™ (2000 standards) registration.
The AHS is also seeking Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) accreditation.
