The Division of Corporate Services and External Affairs provides organizational and business development services in support of the Marine Institute’s schools, centers and units.
The division oversees the following departments:
Marine Institute Bookstore provides a wide range of retail services in support of Marine Institute students, employees and visitors. The bookstore supplies such items as:
- Books including required textbooks and reference materials
- Clothing and gifts bearing the name and/or logo of the Marine Institute as well as diploma frames
- School supplies required by students such as notebooks, paper, writing instruments, lab coats, and backpacks bearing the Memorial University logo.
The Cafeteria/Conference Catering department operates year round offering a full complement of meal services for students and visitors. The department also caters to clients holding meetings and conferences up to 250 delegates at the Marine Institute.
Finance provides financial and contract administration support for all institute accounting and purchasing services.
The Marine Institute employees approximately 370 faculty and staff. Human Resources is responsible for employee relations, recruitment, payroll, administrative services and records and developing and implementing policies and procedures.
Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) provides direction and strategic planning for the Marine Institute on information and computer standards, resources and management. ICT overseesTelephony and Voice Services, Data Networking (Local Area and Wireless) and Network Services (Electronic Mail). This includes Lab computing, mainframe and server management. ICT provides helpdesk, classroom and research computer support to students, faculty and staff for information technology within the Marine Institute.
Facilities and Technical Services manages and maintains the Institute’s buildings, provides transportation, mail, receiving and printing services, and oversees new construction.
Marketing and Business Development assists the Institute’s Schools, Centres and units in identifying contract training and applied research opportunities through proposal development and formation of partnerships. It is also responsible for institutional planning and analysis in support of academic planning and new initiatives. The department also oversees the Institute’s marketing, communications, website management, and publications such as The Bridge. The unit provides expertise in graphic design, event management, promotional projects and web content development.
