The Marine Institute Catering and Conference department oversees a variety of activities including cafeteria operations, vending services, catering, and seminar and conference services.
Cafeteria
The Marine Institute’s cafeteria is located on the lower level offering a panoramic of the City of St. John’s.
The cafeteria operates year round, offering a full complement of homemade foods at affordable prices. Our four-week rotating menu consists of a variety of homemade soups, salads, sandwiches and hot meals. We also feature new additions each semester with a focus on quality nutritious meals enjoyed by students and employees. Be sure not to miss our famous Fish & Chips each Friday during the regular school year.

Friday: 8:00 am – 2:30 pm

Want to save money and enjoy a great meal? Take advantage of our weekly meal card and get five hot meals for $26.00.
The MI Coffee Card also allows you to save every time you visit the cafeteria for that extra cup of joe.

Vending
Vending machines for soft drinks, water, juice and confectionery items are located in the main lobby, 2nd floor west corridor and cafeteria.
Conference Catering
The Marine Institute offers a variety of room settings to individuals or groups planning a meeting, seminar or a conference. A number of groups hold monthly meetings and public lectures at the Institute each month and view the Marine Institute as the ideal location for small working groups, seminars and breakout sessions.
Our Meeting and Conference facilities include:
- Hampton Hall Lecture Theatre
- Classrooms and Mini-lecture Room
- Industry Seminar Room
- Cafeteria
Catering for internal and external clients is available 7 days a week.
The Marine Institute can accommodate catering requests ranging from:
- a luncheon meeting for 10 people
- a seated dinner for 60 people in the Industry Seminar Room
- a seated dinner for 250 people in the cafeteria
- a reception for 500 people in the cafeteria
Costs for facilities and catering are based on factors including menu, number of guests, room requirements, decorating, equipment requirements, tours and presentations. Our Manager, Catering and Conference Services will be happy to assist you in booking your next conference or meeting and arranging your catering needs.
