      <title>Feb. 24 - Nautical Skills Competition - Competition Briefing</title> 
      <description><![CDATA[<p>Let the competition begin!</p><p>The Marine Institute and the <a href="http://www.mastermariners.ca/newfoundland/" target="_blank">Company of Master Mariners</a>, will host the first ever Nautical Skills Competition Feb 24-25, 2012. </p><p>The <a href="http://www.mastermariners.ca/newfoundland/Nautical.php" target="_blank">Nautical Skills Competition</a>  is a series of challenging exercises designed not only to test  knowledge and ability of future deck officers but also to develop  leadership skills and confidence. </p><p>Teams will gather on Friday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. in Hampton Hall&nbsp; to receive a final briefing on competition exercises.Teams are required to compete in 5   different  exercises including  dynamic positioning. seamanship, cargo work, shiphandling and  navigation. </p><p>The winning team will recieve a top prize of $5000.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>]]></description>
