The Marine Institute and the Company of Master Mariners, will host the first ever Nautical Skills Competition Feb 24-25, 2012.

The Nautical Skills Competition is a series of challenging exercises designed not only to test knowledge and ability of future deck officers but also to develop leadership skills and confidence.

Teams will gather on Friday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. in Hampton Hall  to receive a final briefing on competition exercises.Teams are required to compete in 5 different exercises including dynamic positioning. seamanship, cargo work, shiphandling and navigation.

The winning team will recieve a top prize of $5000.
