Special activities are being planned during AQUACULTURE CANADA 2000. These
activities will provide opportunities for delegates to relax and network in informal
settings.
Welcome Reception
The evening of Sunday May, 28 from 7:00 pm to
10:00 pm come an mingle with your fellow colleagues. You will have an opportunity to meet
old acquaintances or make new friends. The welcome reception is an enjoyable opening
social event. It will be held in Ballroom B, on the second floor of the Delta Beauséjour
Hotel.
Student Barbecue
The Student Barbecue will be held on Monday, May 29 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The BBQ
will take place outside the Student Union on the Université de Moncton campus. Enjoy a
variety of barbecued aquaculture products including: Salmon, Mussels, Oysters, etc. A
raffle along with a silent auction of precious items and products will unfold
simultaneously. All proceeds will go towards the AAC Student Endowment Fund. This event is
always very well attended, but tickets are limited.
Cracker-barrel Session
This event will follow the student Barbecue and will be held in the Université de Moncton
Student Union tavern - l'Osmose. It is scheduled to end around 11:00 pm. Informal
exchanges in an informal setting and led by a panel of representatives from industry will
be the focus of the event. Beer will be flowing liberally and local talent will be there
to entertain you. Everyone is invited to join us at the Cracker-barrel Session. John
Gracey (Gracey Communications Inc.) will be your host. This event is free and
transportation will be provided.
Student Luncheon
A special informal student luncheon will be held on Tuesday May 30th from 12:40 pm to 2:00
pm. Representatives of Canadian institutions will make brief presentations of their
programs. The event is free for all students.
Acadian Gala
The Acadian Gala will be held on Tuesday, May 30 from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. You will have
an opportunity to enjoy a unique Acadian culinary and entertainment experience. The
"Barachois", previously chosen as Best Group at the East Coast Music Festival
have been the recipients of numerous honours and awards. They originate from Abram
Village, PEI. The Gala planned especially for this Millennial occasion, will be a
memorable evening of colour, sound, music and entertainment. It is definitely not to be
missed. Plan to attend and reserve your tickets early. TICKETS ARE LIMITED.
AAC Business Luncheon and Awards
The AAC Business Luncheon and Awards will be held on Wednesday May 31 from 12:30 pm to
2:00 pm. This event is open to all AAC members. The business affairs of the organization
will be addressed and student awards for Best Oral and Best Poster Presentations will be
made.
Culinary Demonstration
This new and exciting event will be an integral part of the program. It is slated for
Wednesday the 31st of May between 3:40 pm to 4:30 pm. Chef Roy Butterworth (National
Marketing Director of the Canadian Federation of Chefs and Cooks) will teach you cooking
tricks for seafood that you never imagined possible. He will also make you laugh with his
very special brand of humour. Chef Butterworth will prepare a variety of seafood dishes.
Those in attendance will have an opportunity to taste the delights at the completion of
the demonstration. There is no charge for this event and everyone is welcome to
attend. |
