  • Nature of Services (planning, management, technical assistance, training, procurement, etc.):
The Marine Institute was hired by BIM to work collaboratively with them on the development and delivery of a navigation and stability module for web-based delivery. A majority of the instructional design activities focused on the development of the instructional design template/storyboards and the augmentation of the learning activities and assessments.

In order to minimize costs, the project was collaborative in nature. That is, BIM and the Marine Institute contributed to the project with the aim of developing reusable learning objects that both organizations would be able to deploy in their respective teaching and learning activities.

The project utilized the resources of the BIM staff for the adaptation of existing curriculum and the delivery of pilot. A Marine Institute instructional designer coordinated the project team, ensured that project milestones were achieved, and produced the resultant instructional package. Marine Institute media specialists were employed to create all media objects to be used in the course package.

An external review team, comprised of BIM and Marine Institute content experts was formed to review the instructional packages at the prototype, draft module and final product stages of the project.
