Training Needs Analysis - Fishing Industry. The Marine Institute was charged with the responsibility of detailing the training needs for each of the occupations involved in the Maldives fishing industry, both on the harvesting and post-harvesting sides. Surveys, involving questionnaires and direct interviews with industry participants, were conducted on many of the north and south islands on which the fishery is prosecuted. Also, high school students were surveyed in order to assess the interests of young people in pursuing a career in the fishing industry and their perceptions of that industry. The results from these surveys were then tabulated, analyzed and summarized. A full report of the findings was prepared for the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Marine Resources (MOFAMR).
