- Description of Project and Results Achieved:
The Bachelor of Education (Intermediate/secondary) was a special program offered by Memorial University to cohorts of international students. Beginning in 1998 a partnership was established with the Commonwealth of Learning. The partnership included Memorial University, the University of the West Indies and the Commonwealth of Learning. The purpose of the partnership was to develop and deliver Memorial's B.Ed. program to a cohort of teachers in Dominica and St. Vincent's.
In 2001 twenty-two students graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree from Memorial.
- Nature of Services (planning, management, technical assistance, training, procurement, etc.):
The School of Continuing Studies and the Faculty of Education at Memorial directed the project jointly. Each course required project management, content expertise, instructional design expertise, and production. Project management included project administration, development of standard design templates, coordination with the Faculty, copyright services and evaluation. Instructional designers and faculty content experts were used to develop the course content in a form suitable for authoring in appropriate media. Production involved the conversion of manuscripts and storyboards into deliverable course material.
