  • Description of Project and Results Achieved:
The goal of the project was to support the transition of NCDC to the use of technology in the development and delivery of ancillary learning resource materials for primary and secondary schools in Uganda.

The purpose of this project was to provide design (instructional, graphic, curriculum) and development training and assistance to NCDC curriculum specialists, teachers and staff through in-country workshops.

Nature of Services (planning, management, technical assistance, training, procurement, etc.):
DELT, through the Open Learning and Information Network, was hired to provide training and development assistance to NCDC staff. Front-line staff were trained in the use of instructional and graphic design strategies for web-based delivery of course material. Instructional design activities focused on the development of the instructional design template/storyboards, pedagogy and the augmentation of the learning activities and assessments.

The project also provided training opportunities for NCDC curriculum specialists and lead teachers to design and deliver material developed within their own districts/schools. DELT provided an Instructional Designer and a Graphic Artist to coordinate and deliver a three-week training program in Kampala with follow-up support services provided while on the ground and back in Canada. Additional DELT staff were used to provide smaller aspects of support throughout the project.
