Youth Environmental Stewardship Award 2010
Open to Senior High Students or School Groups in Newfoundland & Labrador
Awards will be presented at the Corner Brook Youth and the Oceans Conference 2010 to a student or group judged to have met or exceeded the following criteria. While we recognize and applaud academic achievement, this award places priority on proactive environmental leadership by a student or group.
Submissions will be judged on the following:
- Extra-curricular environmental activity undertaken by the student or group
- Volunteer involvement in environmental activity in community
- Leadership in school and community
- Academic Achievement
Prizes include a plaque and cash award:
- First Place $250
- Recognition $150
- Recognition $150
Nominations must include an outline of your reasons for recommendation, and must be signed by Environmental Science Teacher or Principal.
Art Challenge
Individuals and groups in Junior High and High School are invited to celebrate MI Ocean Net’s 11th annual Youth and the Oceans Conference through their participation in our Art Challenge showcasing the following:
- Visual Art (painting, sculpture, drawing, photograph)
- Writing (short story, poetry, essay)
Every submission must relate to the marine environment. Show your talent as we celebrate youth and the marine environment!
Share your winning artwork or written submission with your peers during the conference!
Cash awards in each category!
- First $250
- Second $150
- Third $100

St. John's Conference: Deadline for all submissions is Friday, January 29, 2010.
Corner Brook Conference: Deadline for all submissions is Friday, February 26, 2010.
Burin Conference: Deadline for all submissions is Friday, March 11, 2010.
