What is Underwater Robotics?
Please Note: The Summer 2009 offering of the ROV camp has been cancelled.
Ever wondered what it’s like under the waves? Scientists are using sophisticated underwater robots to explore the oceans and lakes. Engineers and industry are using these Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) to work on undersea jobs in the offshore oil, fishing and shipping industries, as well as in security and military operations. It’s a new world of robotics occurring right here in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Now you can participate in this adventure of discovery by designing and building your own ROV and operating it nearby lakes and coastal waters. The Underwater Robotics camp is a one week (5 day) institute for budding scientists, robotics technicians and engineers at the Marine Institute of Memorial University.
