STANDARD RESISTOR VALUES

The color code allows for all resistor values from 10-99 (90 combinations). Not all of these values are available. For example, 10 is available in 5%, 10% and 20% tolerance ranges. The next value in the 5% tolerance range is 11 (24 out of the 90 are valid = E24). The next value in the 10% tolerance range is 12 (12 valid = E12). The next value in the 20% tolerance range is 15 (6 valid = E6).

The largest commercial resistor available is 22 MOhms.

The following table shows the first two digits of the standard resistor values for 5% (E24), 10% (E12) and 20% (E6) tolerances.
