What you need to know
  • As of Sept. 1, 2022, masks are required in classrooms and laboratories on all Memorial campuses, as well as in the Student Wellness and Counselling Centre (SWCC), Health Services at Grenfell Campus and COVID-19 testing areas. Masks are also required in health care facilities operated by regional health authorities. Masks are strongly recommended, but not required in all public spaces.
  • Memorial's procedure for vaccine requirement suspended on June 1 at 12:01 a.m. in alignment with the suspension of the NL Public Sector Policy.
  • Don’t come to campus if you’re sick. Those experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should not come to campus. Doctors’ notes are not required for those who cannot attend class, exams or other evaluations due to COVID-19-related illness or symptoms. As always, students should inform their instructors promptly of absences so they can work together to ensure they can keep up with course work. Students will not be penalized if they need to stay home due to being ill with COVID-19.
  • Rapid testing is available on Memorial University’s St. John’s campus.
  • Instructors should make reasonable accommodations to support continued progress toward course completion for students who may be sick and/or have to isolate.

Memorial and its Marine Institute continues to follow the most up-to-date advice provided by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Government of Canada on COVID-19 response.
