Key Updates

 

    • The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has introduced the NL VaxPass. Some activities at Memorial’s Marine Institute campus now require COVID-19 vaccination record checks for an individual’s access to venues or spaces. Effective as of Oct 22, 2021, Marine Institute employees and students are required to show their VaxPass or proof of vaccination along with identification to access the Marine Institute cafeteria as well as the gymnasium.

 

    • Memorial is planning for Winter 2022 in-person university activities to return to mainly pre-pandemic conditions.

 

    • Dr. Florentine Strzelczyk, provost and vice-president (academic), has announced Memorial’s vaccine declaration form is now open for faculty, staff and students as a follow up to the vaccine mandate announced on Aug. 20, 2021. Students, faculty and staff will require the first dose of an approved vaccination by Sept. 7, 2021, and the second dose by Oct. 15, 2021, unless granted an accommodation. The declaration form should be completed no later Tuesday, Sept. 7.More information on Dr. Strzelczyk’s announcement can be found here. A link to the form can be found on the my.mun.ca portal.

 

    • Students, faculty and staff will require the first dose of an approved vaccination by Sept. 7, 2021, and the second dose by Oct. 15, 2021, unless granted an accommodation. Recognized vaccines include those approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and/or Health Canada. More information will be shared soon on the process by which Memorial will be requesting vaccination information.

 

    • Memorial encourages all employees and students to get vaccinated through public health, your pharmacy, your physician, the Student Wellness and Counselling Centre or the School of Pharmacy’s Medication Therapy Clinic.
