How to Apply

The online application takes about 30 minutes to complete. You may start an application, save it, and return to it any time before submitting.

You will need to submit a new online application if you are/were:

  • Applying to Marine Institute, Memorial for the first time
  • Previously admitted but didn’t register for courses
  • Previously enrolled and haven’t registered for courses in more than three consecutive semesters
  • Current Marine Institute student applying to a new program of study

Technical Certificates

To apply complete the online application.

  • Create your account or sign in at the Memorial University portal.
  • Please remember your login information so you can return to your application later.
  • Please choose your Entry Term, Academic Level and Area of Interest in the Personal Information section.
  • Please choose Marine Institute as your campus.
    • Apply as early as possible.
    • Applications should be received by April 15th or by March 1st for International Students.
    • Applications received following these dates will be assessed as resources and space allow.

Diploma, Advanced Diploma, and Post-Graduate Certificate

To apply complete the online application.

  • Create your account or sign in at the Memorial University portal.
  • Please remember your login information so you can return to your application later.
  • Please choose your Entry Term, Academic Level and Area of Interest in the Personal Information section.
  • Please choose Marine Institute as your campus.
    • Apply as early as possible.
    • Applications should be received by April 15th for domestic applicants, or by March 1st for international applicants.
    • Applications received following these dates will be assessed as resources and space allow.

Undergraduate Certificates and Bachelor's Programs

To apply complete the online application.

  • Please choose St. John’s Campus as your campus.

Important Information for International Applicants

As noted in the announcement from the Government of Canada, as of January 22, 2024, every study permit application submitted will also require an attestation letter from a province or territory. The process for Memorial University applicants to obtain a PAL from the Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Government and any updates pertaining to the process is available on the following website: Provincial Attestation Letter application process | Undergraduate Admissions and Programs | Memorial University of Newfoundland (mun.ca).
