This is technical certificate-level program designed to provide aquaculture farm managers with the necessary skills to effectively manage the day-to-day operations of an aquaculture operation. The courses span a wide range of aquaculture management skills and include topics as diverse as human resources, project management, farm management, communications, regulations and policy, as well as computer skills.
Applicants should possess the equivalent of Grade 9 education and industry experience acceptable to the admissions committee.
The method of instruction and course delivery will be a combination of practical and theory utilizing classrooms for community- based instruction (i.e. near farming regions).

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
Aquaculture Human Resource Management - This course provides students with an overview of aquaculture human resource management through the use of aquaculture-based presentations, discussions, and case-based analysis.
Aquaculture Project Management - This course provides students with an overview of aquaculture project management through the utilization of aquaculture-based presentations, group discussions, and case studies related to aquaculture project planning.
Sea-based Salmonid Farm Management - This course is designed to provide students with an enhanced understanding of the various inputs and outputs that must be managed when operating a sea-based salmonid farm in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Calculations in Aquaculture - This course provides students with the opportunity to review math fundamentals and to learn to apply them in various calculations relevant to aquaculture.
Computer Skills - This course is designed to introduce students to the use of the computer as a management tool to improve communication and personal productivity.
External Communications for Aquaculture Farm Managers - This course is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the importance of external communications as it relates to farm management.
Salmonid Aquaculture Regulation and Policy - This course is designed to enable students to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the regulatory requirements of all aspects of both land-based and sea/lake-based farming of salmonids within Newfoundland and Labrador.
