An initiative of the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland (Marine Institute), Ocean Innovation 2014 (OI) will take a significantly different form for 2014.
Taking place in St. John’s, NL in conjunction with Oceans '14 MTS/IEEE, September 14 – 19 the 12th installment of Ocean Innovation will focus on a number of targeted initiatives around the theme ‘Youth and the Oceans’. Three separate, but related initiatives are planned to take place: An Oceans’14 dedicated session for educators, an Oceans’14 Speaker Series (taking place across the Province of Newfoundland), and an Ocean Innovation Youth Fair.
Where Challenge Becomes Opportunity
Jointly sponsored by the Marine Technology Society (MTS) and the Oceanic Engineering Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE/OES), OCEANS '14 is a major international forum for scientists, engineers and responsible ocean users to present the latest research results, ideas, developments and applications in Oceanic Engineering and Marine Technology.
In partnership with The Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University (Marine Institute), the 36th Annual Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing will take place in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada on June 8-11, 2015.
This years’ theme "Exploring Synergies" highlights the important role that remote sensing fosters in terms of linkages between sectors, disciplines, and areas, as well as the connections between exploration and resource development in the strong provincial economy. The theme underscores the synergies amongst industry, government, and academic sectors; oceanic and terrestrial science; and the cross-fertilization of remote sensing and related disciplines and applications. The rich and diverse cultural mosaic of the host city also underlies the theme.
