Wellness Navigator

The Marine Institute’s Wellness Navigator offers free, confidential, solution-focused counselling to all students available in person and virtually.

Your care includes:

  • Integrated, inter-professional model of care
  • Timely, flexible access to short-term counselling (personal, career, and academic).
  • Case management and coordinated support.
  • Access to wellness resources.

Students can seek counselling for a wide range of personal, academic, and career concerns, including (but not limited to):

  • Stress, anxiety, and depression
  • Relationship or family conflict
  • Loneliness and abuse
  • Eating disorders and trauma
  • Anger management and substance use
  • Gender identity and sexuality

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please use one of the following crisis services immediately:

  • Call 911 if you are in immediate danger or need of urgent medical support.
  • Call 811 for mental health and or addictions crisis, support, or health information.
  • If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, call or text 9-8-8. Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through 9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline.

24-hour Walk-in Psychiatric Assessment Unit at the Mental Health and Addictions Centre located at 300 Prince Philip Drive. Health Sciences Emergency Department on Prince Philip Drive in St. John’s, or go to your nearest emergency room.
