Tanzania Student Mobility Initiative – October 21 to November 5, 2017

Looking for a bit of adventure? Want to improve your resume with some international experience? MI International is looking for an MI student to participate in its Improving Skills Training for Employment Program in Tanzania, funded by Global Affairs Canada and managed by Colleges and Institutes Canada. 

This experience will take place over two weeks from October 21 to November 5, 2017 and involve social media promotion and marketing of training programs being developed in Tanzania with MI’s partner institutes in the project: Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology and College of the North Atlantic.

Although this is an unpaid international opportunity, travel expenses will be covered, including flight, hotel, daily meals and incidentals, related vaccinations, travel insurance, and the cost of a travel visa.

Expected Outcomes

  • Social media promotion and marketing of training programs in Tanzania
  • Videography using a GoPro and cell phone to capture training and related content
  • Promotion of women in training and entrepreneurship in Tanzania


Students must be:

  • A current MI student in good academic standing (any program, part-time or full-time, in person or online)
  • Experienced in social media, marketing, and/or videography
  • Current passport with 6 months minimum expiration date from time of travel
  • Minimum 18 years of age or older
  • Experience working with other cultures and in rural settings would be an asset

Preparation and debrief at MI International October 10, 2017
Departure for Tanzania     October 21, 2017
Scheduled activities in Tanzania October 23 – November 3, 2017 (or 1 week if study schedule will not accommodate 2 weeks away)
Return to St. John’s   November 5, 2017
