International Opportunities

Living, working, studying or volunteering overseas can be incredibly rewarding. MI International understands the value of international mobility opportunities and we are dedicated to finding ways of getting our faculty, staff, students and graduates involved overseas.

Listed below are some of our ongoing international mobility initiatives:

The International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) offers 6-month internships in Belize, Tanzania, Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines. The program covers all travel-related expenses and provides interns with a modest living allowance while overseas. This initiative is funded through Global Affairs Canada.

The International Aboriginal Youth Internship initiative (IAYI) offers 4-month internships in Belize for indigenous peoples of Canada. The program covers all travel-related expenses and provides interns with a modest living allowance while overseas. This initiative is funded through Global Affairs Canada.

The MI Mobility Initiative (MIMI) is a 3-year program designed to provide faculty and staff with little to no international experience opportunities to participate in overseas deployments. Relevant opportunities are identified and coordinated through MI International in collaboration with the schools and units.

There are also numerous international opportunities available through other organizations. We encourage you to explore some of the funded/partially funded as well as the unfunded opportunities that exist outside of the Marine Institute.
