International students should begin the application process much earlier. Due to time constraints and immigration processes, applications cannot be considered beyond April 1st for September enrolment.
Please note that international students are required to pay a $100 application fee.
The Marine Institute is only a few minutes from Memorial University’s St. John’s campus residences. You can choose to stay at Paton College’s ten residence houses or at Burton’s Pond Apartments.
There is a separate application for student housing. You do not need to wait to be accepted by the Marine Institute to apply for on-campus housing. We recommend that you apply early.
Soon you will receive information from us regarding the status of your application, your admission and details about scholarships and awards. Once you are accepted, look for regular correspondence from us that will help you register for your classes.

Diploma and advanced diploma students are automatically considered for entrance scholarships on their application for admission. Students should also consult the section in the for more scholarship listings and application guidelines.
A month before classes begin, you’ll receive instructions on how to register for classes online. You will need a user ID and PIN to login.
The user ID will be your 9-digit student number, which is included in all of the mail that we send to you, and your initial PIN with be your birth year and day (YYYYDD). We’ll also send you details about Orientation TEMP - a one-day event that get you ready for life as a MI student.
You are required to pay all fees prior to the first day of classes for any semester. Fees can be paid online using either Visa or MasterCard. You can also pay by cheque, money order or in person at the Registrar’s Office.
