Welcome to the Marine Institute

A student’s decision to attend the Fisheries and Marine Institute is an important one, and one which has an impact on the whole family. That's why we at the Marine Institute recognize that parents, guardians, spouses and siblings need to have information about the institute in order to have some understanding of our programming and how students can access the resources needed to help them succeed. The MI Family Orientation has been designed to introduce the family to the Marine Institute, and the resources available that support your student’s successful transition to life at MI.

Family Orientation will provide you with an overview of the campus, an opportunity to speak with current MI students and ask about their experience, the services and support available to new students, and a campus tour. Talk openly about the decisions they are making, discuss course options, career plans, housing option, health and counselling, financial planning and any other planning or support your student may need.
