  • Register for Your Courses

Be sure to register on time! You can register by going to MUN's Self Service.

  • Apply for Student Aid (if necessary)

NL students be sure to apply early! All other Canadian students use Canlearn. Please ensure that your loan is for the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland (Marine Institute). The designation code for the institute is JVAA. Do not use the St. John's campus code, JUAA, as this will cause delay in processing your loan.

  • Make sure you have somewhere to live

Check on-campus housing and off-campus housing now and be sure to apply early!

  • Contact the Student Affairs Office

Do you need a disability-related accommodations? If so contact the Disability services office to arrange accommodations.

  • Access your online course(s)

Visit and login using your login credentials. Please note your academic course(s) will not be visible until the first day of classes, however “The Anchor” and “The Ballast” are available now for MTM, MMM, MMS, MSP, BTECH and BMS students now.

  • Set up your computer account

If you’ll be spending any time on campus, you’ll need access to the computers on campus, ensure you set up your computer account to access a number of our online services while on campus. You will be able to do this online toward the end of August after you register.

  • Get information on health and dental insurance

Bachelor’s Students: Visit the Memorial University Student Union (MUNSU) website for details on how to opt out:

Advanced Diploma Student: Visit the Marine Institute Student Union (MISU) website for details on how to opt out of MISU's plan.

  • Visit the MI Campus Store

Make sure you have the latest list of books for your program then visit the Campus Store in the main lobby of the Institute.

  • Pay your fees

Make sure you have your fees paid by the first day of classes. You can pay your fees at the Office of the registrar at the Marine Institute or online via your student banner account.
