“We are very excited about having the opportunity to further enhance the training capabilities within the East Coast region.”
This donation provides the Marine Institute’s Centre for Marine Simulation (CMS) expanded capacity for state-of-the-art offshore and maritime simulation training in Newfoundland and Labrador. The celebration comprised a ribbon cutting event, presentation of the class-A certificate and tours of the new simulator for special guests and industry partners.
The Heritage Bridge simulator is configured to the bridge design of an offshore shuttle tanker, complete with a Dynamic Positioning System. It is capable of recreating the operating conditions, environment and scenarios that can occur during the loading and transport of oil cargo from multiple types of offshore production installations.
The certificate is the awarding of a class-A simulator designation by DNV GL for the Heritage Bridge Simulator. This accreditation enables the Heritage Bridge simulator to be used for the delivery of advanced shuttle tanker training at CMS.
CMS is committed to preparing mariners to work in the challenging offshore industry with the most realistic simulated environments possible. Through this gift Teekay Offshore has further expanded CMS’s capacity to make the industry as safe as possible.
