Health and Safety Expectations

Health and Safety Expectations

Before you come to campus
  • Complete a daily self-assessment: Use the COVID-19 daily self-assessment on the MUN SAFE app. If you’re feeling sick, stay home, notify your supervisor or instructor, and follow Newfoundland and Labrador Department of health advice.
  • Minimize time on campus. Travel directly to your destination -- your classroom, lab, or office. Take advantage of remote student and campus services.
  • Stay informed. Visit mi.mun.ca/COVID19 regularly for key updates, the latest news and learn what resources or safety protocols apply to you.
  • Support accurate tracing. Use the Government of Canada COVID19 mobile app to help prevent the spread while protecting your privacy.
Once you are on Campus
  • Mask Up: Wear a non-medical mask in all public indoor spaces on campus and everywhere when 2 metre distancing is not possible. Follow all PPE protocols for your work area. Students who feel they need an accommodation, may consult Memorial’s Face Mask Accommodation.
  • Stand Apart: Maintain a physical distance of 2 metres (6ft) from others.
  • Follow the Signs: Follow directions on COVID-19 campus signage posted throughout campus for physical distancing, entrances and exits. hand hygiene, cleaning and traffic flow.
  • Keep Clean: Wash hands frequently with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol based hand sanitizer in the absence of soap and water.
  • Be patient. Don’t overcrowd shared or enclosed spaces like elevators, washrooms, and do not congregate in hallways.
  • Gathering limits. Adhere to maximum occupancy limits for classrooms, labs and workshops. Follow provincial gathering limits.
  • Monitor Your Health: Avoid contact with people who are sick. Stay home if you are sick. While on campus, be alert for symptoms. If you feel unwell, notify your instructor, follow Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Health advice and complete the COVID-19 self-assessment (www.811healthline.ca).
  • Be Kind: Look after yourself and those around you. Practice proper cough and sneeze etiquette. Use our student supports if you need help.
