The Marine Institute 2020-21 student recruitment season officially kicks off providing new ways for potential students to explore Marine Institute programs, student life and connect with recruiters
“We’re tackling a recruitment season like no other,” said Jennifer Howell, Enrolment Management Coordinator. “Our team understood this year would be different without traditional school fairs and in-person presentations. We challenged ourselves to find new opportunities and platforms that would allow us to connect with future students.”
Working with MI’s Marketing and Communications and ICT departments the team reimagined how the Institute could virtually expand its reach.
The result of that collaborative work is a new landing page LearnatMI.ca where students and their influencers can explore information dedicated to helping them learn about the Marine Institute programs, campus and community.
Two of the key features are links to new digital, interactive undergraduate and graduate view books. Users can navigate the view books, on their mobile and desktop devices, view videos, program information, connect to recruiters and follow the Institute’s social media channels for the latest campus updates.
LearnatMI.ca also provides details on when prospective students can meet with recruiters for virtual recruitment events, how to get answers to their questions, and guidance on how to apply. More initiatives are in development including a new innovative video presentation and a live chat option.
In an effort to further capture the MI student experience, the recruitment team is also expanding their social media engagement on Instagram (marine.institute) with a variety of stories and videos featuring current students, alumni and faculty.
The recruitment season starts online today with a national advertising campaign and a new video featuring the recruitment team inviting prospective students to get to know the Marine Institute and what it has to offer as their post-secondary experience.
“I am excited about what our team has created; and believe it is a solid start to MI having a strong presence in the world of virtual recruitment this season,” expressed Dr. Angie Clarke, Director, Academic and Student Affairs. “The people and programs at the Marine Institute have a reputation for being resourceful and innovative and we are proud to have transitioned those notable characteristics to our enrolment work and are looking forward to officially sharing it today.”
