Naval Architects design some of the largest manmade, moving objects on the planet. It’s an exciting career path and one that leads graduates of the Fisheries and Marine Institute’s (MI) Naval Architecture program to design everything from research vessels to tugboats to passenger ferries
Bringing real-life to the classroom, third year Naval Architecture students at the Institute are tasked with designing a vessel as part of their final project. This year, amongst the creative designs are a multi-species fishing vessel, a dive support vessel and an anchor handler, just to name a few.
For a sneak peek at this year’s Naval Architect graduates and to learn about their third year project vessel designs, stop by MI on Tuesday, May 24. The students will be in the main lobby of MI’s Ridge Road campus from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. with virtual 3D models, design drawings, scantling calculations and trim and stability books and much more.
From 4:15 p.m.-5:15 p.m. on May 24 and 9:15 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, the class will also present their final design projects in Hampton Hall.
All are welcome to attend!
