The internationally known 'Experience Genie' will be coming to St. John's to surprise a deserving local cancer survivor with a special 'dream day' of experiences on June 25 and the Marine Institute's (MI) Centre for Marine Simulation (CMS) is one of the stops along the way
The Experience Genie and dream day recipient will arrive at CMS at 11:00 am on Friday where they will receive a tour of the facility and experience the centre's popular Full Mission Bridge Simulator. Here she'll try her hand at being a captain on a large vessel and sail in ice and other various weather conditions.
"CMS is very excited to be a part of this young lady's Dream Day," said Maria Halfyard, manager, CMS. "We all know someone who has been touched by cancer and the effects it has not only on the individual but also on the entire family so we are more than willing to provide a fun-filled tour of our facility for her and her family. They certainly deserve it."
Experience Genie was started by St. John's native Joshua Dawson. Dawson, as the Genie, travels the world looking for people, usually suffering a life threatening illness or other major life challenge, to take on a dream day of experiences. The day usually includes a drive in an exotic car, a flight of some kind, a spa, a stay at a unique hotel and other unique experiences related to the destination city. He has been featured on Fox, NBC, ABC, CBS, City TV, CTV, Global and has appeared in many newspapers including the New York Daily News and Miami Herald.
