Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland

All Marine Institute locations on the Island of Newfoundland including Ridge Road campus, OSSC (Foxtrap), Lewisporte, SERT Centre (Stephenville), Southside Marine Base, Holyrood and community based classes will be closed Monday, Jan. 6 and Tuesday, Jan. 7 for all students, faculty, staff and clients to support provincial energy conservation efforts. 

All classes at the Offshore Safety and Survival Centre and the Southside Marine Base as well as community-based classes are cancelled Jan 6 and 7.  A revised schedule for training at the OSSC this week follows below.

In addition, the Marine Institute’s Ridge Road campus has experienced water damage and will be closed to students while cleaning is underway.

Updates on the Institute’s re-opening will be provided prior to Wednesday at www.mi. mun.ca, on Twitter by following @marineinstitute and via local media.

Supplementary, Deferred, and Challenge Exams for the Fall Semester will be postponed until Monday and Tuesday next week January 13^th and 14^th. The deadline to apply will be extended to Thursday January 9^th.

The revised schedule for training at the OSSC this week is as follows:

• Advance Firefighting STCW95 and the 5 day BST will begin on Wednesday January 8 and run through until Sunday January 12
• BST-R students scheduled for January 6-7 are now scheduled for Thursday & Friday January 9-10
• Confined Space Technical Rescue is cancelled and students will be rebooked at a later date
• Fast Rescue Boat training will begin on Wednesday and run until Saturday
• H2S Alive/OSI/HUET will go ahead as scheduled on Wednesday
• CSE-CAPP will continue on Friday as scheduled
