Orientation Week at the Marine Institute Approaching
Getting ready to start your first year of studies at the Marine Institute?
The Marine Institute is preparing a comprehensive slate of orientation activities to help the incoming student body and their families transition into life at the Marine Institute.
Dr. Rob Shea is the Institute’s Associate Vice-President (Academic and Student Affairs) and throughout his career has met hundreds of new students during their transition to post-secondary.
“Coming to campus for the first time as a student is an amazing milestone. They’ll always remember their first day, who they meet and what they discovered,” said Dr. Shea.
Angie Clarke, Director of Academic and Student Affairs, says orientation activities provide students the opportunity for initial engagement with the MI campus so they are comfortable in asking questions, knowing where to access assistance and prepared for success in their new programs of study.
“We know those first days and months can be exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Students are in new surroundings, learning in different ways, and encountering new responsibilities and expectations in their programs,” explained Ms. Clarke.
“Our hope is that our orientation activities provide a successfully foundation to the student experience in our programs” she said. “Our goal is to inform our students and their families that we are here for them if and when they need us.”
