What Will I Learn?

The global aquaculture industry is expanding as the demand for food proteins increases worldwide. Highly qualified practitioners with the knowledge and operational skills in production, management and governance in the aquaculture and related fields will be required. Designed for degree-holding students interested in specializing in the field of aquaculture development, practice and management, the Graduate Diploma in Marine Studies (Aquaculture) offers current and relevant knowledge, combined with technical and practical experience, to prepare graduates for a range of careers in aquaculture and related fields.

The program will provide a solid foundation in environmental stewardship, sustainability, animal health and husbandry, nutrition and feeding, aquaculture engineering and systems operation, and farming technology and techniques. Graduates will also be equipped to collaborate and communicate with diverse aquaculture stakeholder groups to achieve common goals.

Internships may take place within Canada or globally.

Admission Requirements

Admission is limited and competitive. To be considered for admission to the Graduate Diploma in Marine Studies (Aquaculture), an applicant will normally possess a relevant second-class or better undergraduate degree (cumulative grade point average ≥ 2.75/4) from a university of recognized standing.
