BMS Delivery Options

Students may choose full-time or part-time program enrollment

Courses for the B.Tech/BMS programs are offered via a range of delivery modes for truly flexible learning. Choices may be offered in time and/or place of study. Students enrolled in this program are offered opportunities to study on- and off-campus, or combinations of both. Depending on work and personal commitments, students can choose a study route to suit their own circumstances and can move between them as their lifestyles, career, and/or family obligations change. Though, the quickest way that this degree can be earned is via full-time study in one year.

Study Online

Memorial University of Newfoundland and the Fisheries and Marine Institute are genuine pioneers and world leaders in online education. Courses in the BMS program are offered online with select courses available on the St. John’s campus.

The benefits of off-campus study include:
  • You can study from your own home or anywhere
  • You can study at times that suit you - after work, on weekends, or while the children are at school
  • You don't have to spend time travelling to university or sitting in lectures
  • You can earn money by working while you study part-time
  • You can study the same courses with the same lecturers as students who study on-campus and online
  • You have access to a valuable network of personal support services to help you succeed

Online courses enable you to customize your learning to your time, your place, and your pace. Online courses are NOT independent study courses. Online courses are taught via the Internet rather than in a classroom setting. These courses are highly structured and involve frequent interactions with the instructor and with other students. The Internet is used for communicating with the instructor and other students, accessing course materials, conducting research, and submitting assignments. This environment is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A support centre (CITL) provides technical, academic, and administrative support to online students. Campus visits are not necessary.
