Course Description

This introductory course is intended for new entry seafarers who intend to embark upon a marine career where they form part of the bridge watch team. Bridge Watch Rating will provide seafarers with the knowledge and skills related to the bridge watch as well as understanding of the standards of safe working procedures and the hazards associated with the marine environment and their vessel.

In addition to successful completion of this course, applicants must also meet the requirements as laid out in the Canada Shipping Act, Marine Personnel Regulations, Section 171- Bridge Watch Rating, to achieve a Bridge Watch Rating Certificate. This includes completion of STCW Basic Safety VI/1, Marine Basic First Aid VI/1-3 and Survival Craft VI/2 prior to course completion.
