Basic Instructor's Course as covered under the SERT Competency Checklist

Course Description

This course will provide an opportunity for participants to refresh their skills in the area of Basic Ice Rescue as well as obtain effective instructional techniques for transferring this knowledge at the local level.

1.0 NFPA Standards

2.0 Ice Types, Ice Formation and Moving on Ice

3.0 Personal Protective Equipment, Tools and Maintenance

4.0 Pre-Planning, Preparation and Communications

5.0 Victim Rescue, Recovery and Medical Treatment

6.0 Creating an effective and safe Basic Ice Rescue Scenario
