Minimum Certification of Watchkeeping Mate STCW/2

Course Description

This course is designed for deck and engineering officers who have bridge experience in at least one anchor handling operation. The course will provide theory and simulator experience covering basic anchor handling and winch operations.

Course Outline

  • To provide students with the knowledge and skills in planning and risk assessment of anchor handling operations
  • To provide students with practical experience in winch operations, functions and layout.
  • To provide students with practical experience in the use of shark jaws and Karm forks.
  • To provide students with experience in planning, running and retrieving anchors.
  • To practice teamwork and communication skills.
