Prerequisites

FIREFIGHTER Level I or II or equivalent training

Course Description

This course is designed to provide land-based firefighters with the knowledge and skills to aid a master with a fire on board their vessel.

Course Outline

  • To enable students to safely and efficiently extinguish vessel fires.
  • To enable students to construct and execute a contingency plan for ship boarding and firefighting.
  • To enable students to gain a better understanding of various components for shipboard operations in the event of an emergency.
  • To explain to students the negative effects of pumping large amounts of water on a vessel.
  • To discuss the hierarchy and overall command structure on a vessel
