Prerequisites

Course Description

This course is intended for personnel engaged in operations that involve berthing and deberthing at specific locations. The operation will be conducted in a full mission ship simulator with various realistic environmental conditions of winds, waves and currents.

Course Outline

This course will enable participants to:

  • Appreciate the normal manoeuvring characteristics of a ship and to experience the effects of specific environmental conditions on those characteristics
  • Identify manoeuvring techniques and practices using various equipment normally found on commercial ships
  • Provide participants with the opportunity to practice or enhance their ship handling skills under realistic conditions using a full mission bridge simulator
