Overview

Located at 455 Incinerator Road, St. John's, NL, the OSSC offers an extensive array of facilities and equipment to support its training deliveries. Following rigorous quality and safety management processes, the OSSC offers modern, safe, and effective emergency training in a risk-managed environment.

The OSSC utilizes cutting-edge facilities and equipment to enhance its training programs, including:

  • An Environmental and Survival Training Theatre equipped with a Helicopter Underwater Escape Trainer (HUET), wind and wave generation, and realistic sound effects, creating an immersive training environment. The Survival Training Theatre also offers various marine and offshore evacuation systems, including a functional lifeboat and davit arrangement.
  • An full motion S92 helicopter cabin simulator.
  • CSA-approved propane-fueled firefighting systems with marine, offshore energy, and industrial training props. Additionally, the facility maintains capabilities for environmentally controlled fuel oil firefighting operations and includes various firefighting props, such as large pan fires, helicopter firefighting systems, and interior firefighting setups.
  • A marine evacuation facility equipped with a twin-fall davit system, a PROD davit system featuring 50-person lifeboats, fast rescue craft davit and vessels, and a slewing arm davit equipped with SOLAS approved rescue boats.
  • Full motion Freefall lifeboat simulator and a coxswain lifeboat simulator.
  • Multiple seagoing marine training vessels.
